A roundup of last-minute holiday gifts for gardeners

I hesitate to say this for fear of being hated, but....my Christmas shopping is DONE!! But the more I search the web lately, the more cool stuff I find....that I might have to buy for myself. No can do, though, so I thought I'd share the cool stuff with you guys, plus some of my favorite garden tools. These aren't tools I've looked up online and just SAY I own. I really do have these, and they get used constantly. Good luck resisting...

I just stumbled upon this wonderful review of a book I think I'm ordering today. No idea who I'll give it to, which means I will gleefully keep it!

Hands down, this is my absolute favorite tool. I gave one to my neighbor Laura years ago for Christmas, and she loved it, and then I got one for free from work years ago (YAY!), and on summer days, you can see both of us dragging it everywhere! The blade is the perfect size for just about any job. The handle, which looks gimmicky, is totally not. It's perfect! Back when I got mine it only came in green. Now it comes in 6 colors. Boo!

OK, well, maybe it's a tie. I've used a lot of soil knives over the years, but this is my fave, and it's not at all the most expensive! I use this for everything the radius spade is too big for. And weeding. And cutting potting soil bags open. And o…

Shameless plug here, since I adore my new job! Our Kitchen Garden Seeds catalog is printing AS I TYPE THIS. I know, because I'm hanging out at the printing facility in Pennsylvania for a few days, helping to approve the proofs. SO FASCINATING!! I got to help edit the catalog this year as one of my first duties on the job, and it was so much fun. Anyway, I have a long list of seeds I'm going to try this spring, and most of them are ones that you can sow directly into the garden. This is a collection of easy self-sower flowers!

Pretty much my favorite gardening book of all time. Clever and fun and so useful! It makes a great gift for beginner gardeners, new homeowners, or seasoned gardeners. Plus the author is a friend of mine, and she's just freaking awesome.

Colored twine...I use it in the garden, on gifts, and to add a bow to the mason jar I've filled with flowers. Sure, natural is great for all of that, but who can resist these colors??

I have always wanted one of these. Why haven't I just bought one of the damned things??
