I can't seem to remember how Deanne Fortnam and I met. I feel sure someone lovely introduced us, and now I'm forgetting to give them credit. Whoever it was, I'm grateful! Deanne and I worked together on a few articles over the years, so I've visited her garden in Nashua, New Hampshire, a couple of times, and as soon as you pull into her neighborhood, well, WOWZERS! You can tell which house is hers.
Deanne loves tropicals, and overwinters oodles and oodles of them every year. These plants make their way into every nook and cranny of her garden amongst thousands of equally healthy and vibrant perennials, annuals, and shrubs. It's almost overwhelming, but in a very good way. I can honestly say that Deanne might be the most tireless gardener I have ever met. For the next few days we'll explore a few facets of her garden. Today we'll focus on her spectacular roadside and driveway gardens. If Deanne's name sounds familiar, it's because she's here commenting every day, so I'm sure frantic plant talk will erupt in the comments. Ready, set, go!
